I've been hearing Jackson county running totally simplex with their dispatcher on 155.79 lately, instead of the 155.79/155.97 duplex operation.

Does anyone know what that's about?

Subject: IMPORTANT RADIO INFORMATION

Due to some recent interference we have moved the date up for radio reprogramming to Aug xx
.
Below is a list of the actual radio frequencies and the tone squelch that needs to be placed in each radio.

The tone squelch must be on transmit and I would recommend that you put it on the receiver as well.

Since this change will effect so many, here is how its going to happen.
On Aug xx , we will reprogram our base radios to the new channels,
we will leave one base radio on the “old system”, to handle calls for those of you
that do have the radios changed on the xx.

Once you have the radios changed over please let dispatch know, as soon as everyone has made the change over we will reprogram the remaining base station to the new channels.

This change will do away with the semi-duplex system that we have had for ever.

This change will give us two dispatch channels, channel 1 and channel 2, and a car to car.
This will enable all users to hear all the radio traffic, and should reduce the double transmissions that we have,
Everyone will be able to hear the other one if close enough.
This will not change the range of the radios.
Also if we are holding the air on channel 1, we can continue business
as usual on channel 2, something that we currently are not able to do.

We also will be narrow banding the radios so that we are 2013 compliant.
The transmitter power will remain the same, there is special circuitry in the newer radios to make up for the lower width of the signal. (25 to 12.5)
So make sure you have the radio programmed as narrow band.

CHANNEL 1 155.790 N SIMPLEX TONE OF 156.7
CHANNEL 2 154.100 N SIMPLEX TONE OF 156.7
CHANNEL 3 155.970 N SIMPLEX TONE OF 156.7 (CAR TO CAR ONLY)
