Oh yeah, now I see it... oops. I wonder how well the system will work for us scanner listeners. If the nearest site is 10-15 miles away, will I be able to pick it up full strength?!

Something would be very wrong if you couldn't.

As someone stated in last year's discussion......you won't hear anything, unless a car is affiliated with the site you are interested in.

Another unknown with the new system will be the talk groups.

If all of troop H's communications were to take place on a single talk group (similar to the current low band setup), then the logical choice would be to pick the tower most likely to have a car, or weigh scale affiliated with it at all times. The logical choices for my location would either be the Winston site, or the Dearborn site, and not the Lawson site which is practically in my front yard. But even this logic gets tossed out if troop were to be divided into 4 talk groups for regular business.

Having several talk groups will allow the flexibility to patch or unpatch groups as needed according to staff levels, time of day, or incidents requiring special handling.

A lot remains to be seen........I'm not a fan of P25 audio quality and will probably just fade away after the low band is gone.

I am picking up 171.6875 from my home location which is just south of Moscow Mills,Missouri. The signal is encrypted and I have not yet had a chance to get a tone search yet.

I was planning on posting the frequency on the federal unknown frequency forum , however found this post and saw that it possibly could be the MOSWIN.

What's the latest info? Are they still testing or what?! I would think they'd be getting with it, because it was supposed to be done by the end of this year!!

I put this in yesterday within minutes of your post.
I heard both encrypted and in the clear voice traffic. They mentioned street names that match those in St. Louis City and it sounded more Federal to my ears. I had a great signal here in Chesterfield for about an hour maybe and then they were gone and have not heard a peep since.
I do not think it has anything to do with MOSWIN.

I found references to the DHS ICE Network using that frequency in more then one city so maybe that is who it is?

Good catch regardless! I plan on watching it when I can.

171.6875 is loud and Clear in Glen Carbon IL... all I've heard is ENC with NAC 653. No detection of MOSWIN or a P25 trunked system.

Found this online:

ST.LOUIS, MO

“STL CALL” 171.4375 MHz

“STL TAC” 171.6875 MHz

One guy is talking in the clear again today. They are on 44 going east from 270. I can't tell who they may be though.
Interesting though. Definately some kind of law enforcement from what I just heard.

I'd say that is it Terry.

MT Fed Files: Justice Department "25 Cities Project"

Same NAC and all so sounds correct.

I am glad you all heard the same as I did. I was going to post today that I did not think it was MOSWIN.

Ok, I think I have found a Control Channel for the MOSWIN Trunk system. the FCC Data on the freq as of this date.

Assigned to the Public Safety Trunk Group.

I can not get it plugged in right to see whats what on the Uni Trunker program.

A side note I need help on setting up the Pro 96 com program for the BCD 396xt.

If I'm not mistaking, your location in Park Hills is over 100 miles to Bendavis, which the license is referring to... what antenna are you using?! If you are that far away picking up a control channel, that makes me optimistic that I would pick up more than I thought!!

The antenna(s) I am using are the stock antenna when portable, and a two meter ham antenna ((do not remember the name , Sorry) when mobile.

Reception 100 miles away? I don't see that very possible, unless you have that antenna really really high up in the air.
