Default Moswin

I wonder why they have damn near turned this system back off.

I know this may be better to ask in the GRE section, but my PSR-800 doesn't seem to like receive this system if I manually enter it. I've never had an issue like this one before. My Pro-197 will be stopping every time they talk but the 800 buzzes right on by them.

The system will be outdated by the time it is operational. I remember the discussion of the system back in 2008. It was "sold" to agencies as an option to meet narrowbanding requirements for 2013. This is simply not going to be operational by 2013. Some counties and towns can use the interoperable channels but most still use telephone or point to point. Scott County deputies still cannot hear Sikeston DPS traffic after a couple years. I am lead to believe that the system is currently a step backward for interoperability.

A couple days ago I monitored the Poplar Bluff tower (155.4300) for 28 consecutive hours and received 4 radio affiliations and no voice traffic.I have found the use of VHF requires more towers and severely slows my scan rates. If I scan only local towers I get no traffic. Sometimes troopers are in one location but not affiliated with the nearest tower to their location. For Troop E the Blomfield tower (152.5400) seems to carry 75% of the MOSWIN traffic (of what little there is).

Are you monitoring 155.430 from the looks of things several changes to control channels have been made.
155.430 control channel for Poplar Bluff
170.9125 control channel for Benton

The Cole Camp site is currently using 171.2625 for a control chan. It's been bouncing back & forth from it and 169.6625 the last couple of weeks.

I would think Benton County still disptaches their users.
Why would that change?

They could be using the MOSWIN system but would still be dispatched like they have been in the past.

I don't think the state is going to assume dispatch duties for any of the counties (or small towns and cities) that move onto the moswin towers if that is what you are asking.

If you are asking which troop will dispatch the states patrol cars within Benton County, I'd think that would still be the same troop that has always dispatched for that area which should be troop A. I guess they could switch the troop boundaries around a bit but my guess is they will remain the same.

Troop A Trooper told me last night, "well, they were saying first of the year, but now they're saying like June. We have the equipment, the radios in the cars, so I don't know what's going on."
