Default University of Missouri Hospital EMS Unit Numbering

I was wondering who/what the EMS22/23 units do for the hospital. They are different because they drive Tahoes to calls instead of the typical ambulance. Just in case no one knows what I am talking about, they run with University of Missouri EMS Team and only respond to select calls. They are never dispatched, only put themselves on calls.

Thanks for any help,

Adam

Not being familiar with your area, But I would say they are Advanced Life Support (ALS) Units.

Attachment 39987

The Advanced Life Support (ALS) run with the ambulance in High Priority situation. i.e. A Heart Attack victim ect. The ambulance crew are most likely to be Basic Life Support (BLS)
So on a high priority call the dispatcher would alert both the BLS and ALS via Pager but the call may go out as ambulance.

BLS: BLS (Basic Life Support) - The RadioReference Wiki)
ALS: ALS (Advanced Life Support) - The RadioReference Wiki)
Priority Dispatch System: Medical Priority Dispatch System - The RadioReference Wiki

Maybe EMS supervisors?

Usually supervisors self assign to calls.

I think it is a EMS Supervisor because every once and a while I will see them at the substation down the road from my house. I will try and post a picture if possible.

The Tahoe is the PPV package and it has a Whelen LED lightbar and a whole-lotta lights on the back. The back also features the British style ambulance paint in Black/Gold and has an LED sign that flashes "EMS STAY BACK" while going code 3. It is a very cool sight to see.
