It looks like to me that more and more of the county's in Missouri are joining in on the system...?? are they going to use it all the time for there only dispatch ? or are they using only for emergency calls to MHP only ? or both?..I did not think most of the county's had the funds for such a purchase...but more and more are joining in all of a sudden every day...something has changed...dropping there "analog" system?

Nothing has changed in St Francois, but will keep listening and watching. Last thing I know That the county has a licensing problem or something like that. Does anyone in the St Francois County have any newer info ?

Every 24 hour PSAP in the state of Missouri has access to MOSWIN through radios placed in the PSAP by the state with federal funding. Those radios are installed in almost if not all locations now. With 150+ talkgroups pre-programmed into each one, the "basic load" that all MOSWIN radios are expected to have, this will provide a way to call HIPO, Adjacent county PSAP's, not so adjacent counties PSAP's, and other users on the system.

Every radio has a county talkgroup, that all users in that county will have, active on the towers that cover that county. They will also have county "travel" talkgroups, that will allow transport cars, EMS units, and others with a VALID purpose to have short checkins with their home agency. (Don't envision a local fire chief checking in on the channel that he is out at the hotel in St Louis, and the weather is nice up there)

Then the interop talkgroups, on a county, region, and statewide bases the interop and event channels are in each basic load.

Those talkgroups are outlined in the Wiki.

Every level 1 and level 2 radio will have these.

Level 1 users will also have their own talkgroups, dispatch, operations, etc.

Level 2 users will have the basic load, for mutual aid and interoperability.

So, yes, every county will be on MOSWIN, just to varying degrees such as level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,

Yes Bakersville site is what I listen to. I only live about 4 miles from the tower as a crow fly's. You should be able to hear Bakersville, one of our unit's was in Paragloud the other day talking back to Kennett through the Bakersville tower, So I would think you would be able to hear Bakesville if you have a out side antenna up a little bit. You should have 169.650 as control channel and 170.3875 as alternate

According to one of my "low friends in high places", Cape Girardeau City would like to get on MOSWIN, but the lack of coverage in Cape City is holding them back. Down by the river and other low areas in town, mobiles can have a hard time getting into the system (closest tower is in Benton), and HT coverage is non-existant all over town with the exception of a couple of high points, and then it is marginal at best. The PD has XTS2500's and XTL2500's (mostly) and all could be reflashed and reprogrammed for MOSWIN. The PSAP supposedly has a MOSWIN radio already installed and operational. And with the casino money starting to roll in, funding to do the upgrades isn't an issue. If they would put in a site on the Cape Ameren tower, it would cover the entire town and then some.

Traffic on PD Main is starting to get somewhat congested during the busy times, so they definately could use some additional capacity. When and if they do go, I hope they won't follow Sikeston and go encryption happy.
