Technician Keith Fierket with Motorola Solutions was putting the
finishing touches on new communications equipment at the Stoddard County
Ambulance District (SCAD) this week. The installation of the Motorola
Astro 25 Radio System is only the third such system to be used in
Southeast Missouri, and the first by an outside agency in the entire
state. The other two digital systems are at the Troop E Headquarters of
the Missouri Highway Patrol in Poplar Bluff and the Sikeston Department
of Public Safety, which was a pilot program.

Just a minor response to Stoddard Co EMS. I have heard them on their county "travel" TG many times arriving up here in St Louis at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Absolutely amazing how crisp and clear the radios sounds. The dispatcher can also be heard. MOSWIN is amazing and it seems will only get better. In my honest opinion MOSWIN blows StarCom away. When I can hear on a daily basis (here in St Louis) a Ranger or Trooper on a walkie out in Washington Co. MO or Warren Co talking to his dispatcher, that is good stuff. I understand that StarCom does the same thing however, from my standpoint, and probably a lot of others, there seems to be this invisible lead wall that rises over the Mississippi River that prevents StarCom radio waves to enter MO. If they can fix that then we all might be a bit happier. Again my opinion.
