Fair Grove carries a lot of traffic... You should definitely be hearing things if programmed correctly. How much signal strength are you showing on the screen when on the Fair Grove site?

Question

Questions for you guys out there.

What is the new Metro site in Illinois? I have not heard of it and and/or what it is going to be used for. Is there a site number? And is it part of StarCom?

What is the relation with everything that is going on and the city's south tower? Is it being used for something other than the city trunked system?

The city has three towers. Are they using all of them or just the north and south tower? I do not believe I have heard anything from the downtown (headquarters) tower for years.

Even though things are somewhat hum drum lately it also seems like there is a lot going on in the back round. Maybe there will be changes coming soon.

Thanks for any info.

The Sikeston 700MHz site is showing a Neighbor which isn't in the DB.
Can't connect to it.

199/T0163 774.30625

Only other place I see it in the DB is..
3 (3) 098 (62) Zone 3 - Site on Wheels Statewide 769.40625a 770.95625 770.96875 774.30625c

Maybe it's another SOW?

It may be another 700 site since they have been adding a few recently.

Great, I can actually run Pro96Com on the 700s.
My Pro96 doesn't like the VHF Sites.

I keep hearing the Troop I Highway Patrol troopers give their car's mileage to dispatch.

What's up with that?

About 10 years ago in another state I was told the HP did this at the beginning and end of the shift to help prevent them from using their patrol units (cars) for personal use.

I do not know if that is true or not.

Exclamation TG 22407

This TG is not listed in master database. From St Louis this morning heard a command post set up at Springfield Reg Airport. Possibly called 'Modor or Moder command'. Tracking for over an hour some kind of aircraft. Aircraft may have been called Capflight 9515. Aircraft eventually landed at SRA.

Anyone with ideas?

Smile new TG

I heard on either the Imperial,Lawrenceton or the Shirley towers, today around about 830-0900 hrs this tg 301 with a UID of 902. something about stopping somewhere on Eulcid (Hope I have the street spelled, In the St Louis area around Kingsman Highway near Chase Hotel and the Hospitals).

Did anyone else hear this traffic or did I just think I heard it.

Thanks,

Yes I did hear it. The TG I monitored for quite a while was 20301. The units identified themselves as Revenue 30, 2, 7 and 18. Interesting part was that I could hear them all over the state and I could only hear what I am assuming was the mobile units. Never heard what could have been a base or dispatcher. Euclid in St Louis City was a street. Woodson Road in St Louis County was mentioned. They were also in Poplar Bluff and Sunrise Beach.

Also earlier this morning I monitored (a very short time) TG 10126 (identified as St Louis EOC) and TG 23695. I believe that was also the city's EOC, not sure. They attempted a few times to contact Marion County. I believe they were, or were trying to contact 'mobile Marion Co CEMA operation. Not too sure.

Overall, for me, it has been interesting monitoring MOSWIN the past couple of days.

I checked the tg I mentioned and it was 301. I have not yet see the ones use metioned. Will keep a look out for them. as well.

I have few 71 series UIDs that have logged with the old 396xt before it quit ( I have a PC interface problem and no money to fix it...lol)

There is a big statewide (multi-state, actually) earthquake exercise called "Capstone" that's going on this week; which is why you have been hearing a lot of "new" stuff. Last day of major play is Thursday.

Thanks for the info on the earthquake preparedness. Maybe we will hear more.

I wonder if 301 and 20301 are related or if it was a coincidence that we heard the same kind of traffic at the same time? I use the 396xt. Not sure if a different scanner will have a different display.

In reference to my previous post of TG 22407 there is more info in the Misc TG's section of the MOSWIN master list of TG's. I may have heard MODRS - MO Disaster Response System. Sounds like that is what I heard. FYI only.

Default TAC 5? Why did I not hear in Search (Wildcard) mode?

One or two nights ago, I heard the Troop I dispatcher tell a trooper to coordinate with a helicopter (MP prefix and some numerals) on "TAC 5". I switched to search (wildcard) mode and heard nothing. Any ideas? I see no "TAC 5" in RR database for MOSWIN. I see "Event 5" but no "TAC 5".

Could it have been on the old VHF Lo Band?

Default TAC 5

Might have been, but I've got those always enabled, unless they were using a Moswin frequency in analog mode or because of distance from my house, couldn't pick them up. I know 2 or 3 of the Troop I dispatchers. Maybe will ask them sometime. Thanks.

I'm thinking TAC 5 is a simplex frequency not part of Moswin.

You might try programming in 770.46875:NAC 293 as a conventional P25 channel.

I overheard "landing at downtown airport" on that frequency one day after earlier hearing them on Moswin say they would be using 7-TAC-5-D, or 700-TAC-5D.

Since then, they've moved to something different, so I really can't verify that my info is correct.

My antennas don't favor the 700 band, so if there's any routine car-to-car chit-chat on this frequency, I'm not likely to hear it like I could on the old TAC 3 and TAC 4 high band channels.
