Default Stolen STL City TRS radio

The other night I was listening to the scanner and they were trying to track down a silver Impala with tinted windows that was wanted for questioning about shootings in the 3rd district and for some thefts in the 4th. They finally found the car and they found some guns, bullet proof vests, raid gear, and a department radio.

I thought the TRS radio's were easy to track? Plus couldn't they just take that radio off the system so it couldn't be used after it was stolen?

Did someone steal just the radio? Or was the impala an undercover cop car?

Either way it seems pretty wild to find a car that was still loaded with weapons and gear. You would have thought the criminals would have atleast taken the guns.... and vests?

Did this make the local news?

Apparently it wasn't an undercover car but just the car they were using. They were behind it at one point down on Jefferson and MLK, then lost it. They had a plate and knew it had a spoiler and dark tinted windows. I'm not sure how the exact same car managed to outrun the police who have lights and a siren though. They picked it back up about 20 minutes later, boxed it in, and stopped it at North Market and Grand.

Then they were going thru the car and came across the weapons, vests, raid gear, and radio. Then they said that it was going to be stolen items from the department. I'm not sure where they were stolen from in the city though. They were ready for a fire fight, that's for sure.

I don't think it made the news, but it doesn't surprise me. I've noticed the lid is on pretty tight with the crime that happens in the city. Even when things get reported, not all is disclosed.

That'd be a tough call to make. You'd want to brick it just so they can't listen to PD, etc., but at the same time you could see if their still within range of the system by just leaving it on and perhaps they'd be stupid enough to actually use it.

42.64000 Troop F Dispatch & Car to Car
154.92000 Detectives & Rural Investigators

Zone 7 is simply a patrol area, the above frequencies dispatch to all Troop F zone locations, including zone 7.
