Default St Louis Fire Dept

Why does their dispatch differ from almost everybody else. Instead of starting off 7115, 7047 MVA then address, they start of MVA, address, then the very last thing is the unit responding.

probably because they are legally retarded. Although with fire toneouts the units who need to be listening probably already know who is suppose to respond.

Actually, completely contrary to the first part of your "statement," being FD personnel in the city of St. Louis is no doubt an incredibly stressful job. Regularly going into parts of the city that no visitor would ever go takes a lot of courage.

Going into parts of the city where no other person would dare go sounds pretty retarded to me! Honestly i'm just joking so please don't take offense, it just sounds wierd to broadcast a call but instead of indicating which units need to listen in, they wait until afterwards to tell you which units need to respond.

Actually, Kansas City Missouri dispatches pretty much the same way St. Louis City FD does. Old habits die hard. My best guess is that when consolidated dispatch agencies first got started in the mid to late 1970's they devised the current "format" of dispatching equipment. I spent some time around 2000 just outisde Kansas City and even the county fire departments in Kansas sound funky compared to say South County Fire.

The companies are aware if they need to respond due to their tone-outs...
