Default Hungry Horse Fire Direct Frequency

Hi
I found this frequency ( 165.2600 mhz PL 167.9 NFM) and they said they were Hungry Horse Fire ( Direct ).
This frequency is listed as an DEA frequency but Forest Service is using it. I live in Libby, Mt and the signal is good here. Heard this station before but did not know who it was. I'm scanning between 165.2500 - 165.2700 to find out if it's 5 khz step or 12.5 khz step.

Scanner: BCT15
Software: FreeSCAN
Antenna: Firestik base antenna

What you heard was the input frequency for the Flathead National Forest. It's actually 165.2625 and the tone on the input varies depending on which repeater they're trying to hit. See this page: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/d...&stid[]=30.

Hi Gilligan

Thanks for the info. I found that earlier on the database. My question is if I want to listen to hungry horse do I use the input frequency with a certain pl tone ? And does each station use a different pl tone or the same one? hmmm.

Right now I'm listening to the lincoln county sheriff office and I've noticed 2 pl tones that show up depending on who talking, 151.4 & 114.8. So I'm trying to figure out who's using which one. There may be a predominant one. I think dispatch is using 114.8 but I'm not positive yet because 151.4 shows up sometimes.
It just depends on who's calling who, heh heh. I wonder if each officer or patrol car uses a certain pl tone ? That's what I'm writing down now to figure it out.

Question: Can PL tones show up even if they are not using them ?

You may be hearing two separate departments.
