Was it previously programmed on a trunked system? It sounds a lot like what happens when a radio is "stunned"/inhibited on a trunked system.

Inhibited 5K's can actually be read and written to, just won't clear the inhibit and still a paperweight.

XTS5000 is a newer (Astro 25) product line, one of the security glitches with the older legacy systems and radios were addressed with Astro 25. The only one who can undo an inhibit is the system who inhibited it in the first place.

Ok ok guys.

Sounds like a controller/board issue then. Sending it to the depot or finding a private party is probably your best bet.

I think an XTS5000 case would make an excellent drinkie-talkie. I just may up the bid by a few bucks.
