To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone,

Is there a way on the XTS3000's to get the trunking permit tone on conventional channels? I know it's possible on the XTS5000's but I have not been able to find any information about it on the 3000's.

Thanks!
Jameson

Theoretically you could do this, at the expense of causing some noise on the channel you're transmitting on.

If you have some kind of signaling, i.e. MDC, DTMF, etc., enabled in your radio, you could set your radio to pre-PTT identify (send a data burst with your MDC ID or DTMF ID), and set your radio to generate a "sidetone" while it's transmitting the PTT-ID. That way, your radio will give you a tone while you're first pressing the Push To Talk. The downside, as I said, is, you're sending a squawk or quack of noise at the beginning of each transmission, which could get annoying to the other users of the radio system.

No, it is not possible to get the triple-beep trunking TPT on a conventional channel with the XTS3000.

The VRS/quantar work around for this is only an option on the 5000.

This is actually very useful - if you have a repeater that (for whatever reason) cuts the beginning of the transmission, you can use this so the data gets cut and when you start talking everything you say will be heard.

The talk permit tone is an option on conventional if you have an encryption module on a newer flashport radio

I dont have a batboard login.... Wont let me use a yahoo email address

Enable DVRS
Now that allows talk permit tone to be checked
now check "TA when no DVRS comms"

You must disable scan on these p-25 channels you want talk permit - otherwise there will be invalid fields. There are a few other invalid fields that need correcting - can't remember what these are right now :(

The talk permit tone does not sound like the video, but rather fail soft talk permit tone. Probably because it only works when the TA when no DVRS comms is check. I haven't gone any further, time for bed

See if that works
