Motorola SP-50 Radius question...

Can someone advise what the MON button on the front of the Radius SP-50 by motorola does? I press the button on my radio and it turns orange, I press and hold and I get a loud squelch noise, can someone advise please, thanks!!

The Monitor button on Motorola Portables and Mobiles are usually programmed for a short press to activate the radio mode/channel in receive mode for CSQ or carrier squelch receive no PL or DPL needed. And if held for a longer duration opens up the speaker on the radio so you can hear weak or non programmed PL or DPL transmissions, hence the hissing noise you hear.

no. just the rapid charger goes green when it is done

Some bubble pack radios have MON buttons and most professional portable radios have these button on the side. Its the same thing as turning squelch down to copy distant stations on SW.
It allows you to hear the full choppy signal. One of the best features I can think of
