Default Astro Saber Programming?

I have some Astro Sabers, this is the flash :

100004-000000-4
Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H37/G50 Smartnet Operation

I have CPS R05.00.02 to program these with, Astro Saber/XTS3000 CPS,

In order to add modat to the flash, would i have to re-flash all the radios to do modat or will it add modat with the programing, we are using modat for training purposes to teach about signaling...and is there a program to decode modat?

It's absolutely pointless to want Modat. It's obsolete and nobody uses it. Why teach obsolete signalling?

The radio has MDC as a standard feature. MDC is relevant TODAY. Teach that instead and don't worry
about MODAT or getting your radios flashed for it.

Very true, I didnt think about that, Our local police explorer group in bronxville wants to set up a mock dispatch and they want to make it realistic for the explorers, so we are teaching on signaling

good luck getting a legitimate MODAT flash from Ma M anyway, otherwise you'd have to use "unauthorized tools" to blow a codeplug in with the desired whore flash, and then retune/align.

Easier to use MDC which is already there.
and it would be a better tool as you can demonstrate unit ID (with a radio or consolette setup for MDC decode), emergency call, etc and how it works. Without a long out of production MODAT terminal, you can't do much other than make annoying tones over the air.

That's what im thinking, We are going to set up an ROIP System that inturn will link both our repeaters together, but there will be secondary MDC Decode software running over the 1 of the 2 linked computer screens at the 2 different computer stations we run for the training simulator,
But this all heavily relies on donations through our Boy scouts of America affiliates, since we joined them they were able to hook us up with ham clubs were commerical equipment and computer donations came from, But it is going to work like a simulation dispatch center for 2 positions.
