Default astro saber

hi there everyone; I just picked up an astro saber today and i was wondering if there is anything quirky
i should be aware of before i program this portable?

I was also looking to turn off a programming feature that allows the portable to search for other towers by pushing the upper button on the side, towers that are a bit far away but stronger seem to get monitored before a local does.

thanks

Not real sure about your side button there but on our p25 radios we can hold down the RSSI button and it scans tower sites and picks the closest one and/or one with the strongest signal... which is usually the closest.

Get in your car. Drive around until you are on the site you want using site scan. Enable site lock. That is about all you can do without altering the programing of the trunking system.

Are you authorized to program a radio up on the trunking system?

If you are, you should already know what you need to know in order to correctly program the RSSI feature.

If you're not, you're playing with fire. Unauthorized radios often lead to trouble that involves police, handcuffs, uncomfortable rides in the back of a police car, search warrants, confiscation of property, involvement of attorneys and judges in your life, chats with Motorola attorneys, and other unpleasantries that you do not want in your life.
