Question HT1000 Programming Questions

I am looking at getting a HT1000 off ebay for scanning/FD purposes. They seem like a solid radio I can purchase cheap. I will most likely be taking it to a moto dealer to have it programmed. Aside from frequencies, I am wondering what the programing options are.

I am looking at dispatch being the priority channel so if in scan mode it will revert to that channel if there is activity. I would also like to put some PD channels on it as RX only.

Just looking for input on how I should have the A/B/C switch buttons configured. Basically I want to be able to make a list for the programmer to go through how I want the radio configured when I drop it off.

Any help is appreciated.

Right now, I have fire 1 (dispatch) as priority when in scan.
Emergency Button inactive.
Green button nuisance delete.
1 Black button monitor.

If you have an HT1000, how do you have it setup?

Our experience was that the most effective use of the A-B-C switch was

A = Direct (no scan).

B = Repeat (no scan)

C = Scan.

The HT1000 has a single scan list per radio, but "<SelChan>" can be made the Priority 1 member. This means that the selected channel will be temporarily added to the scan list (if not otherwise a member) and will be the first priority.

Or, you can set up the switch for:

A: Scan On
B: Scan Off
C: Scan List program

Green Button: scan list edit.

This is how our dept radios are setup. But we have PR1500s and the purple button is nuisance delete.

How does the scan list program work from the radio? Can you actually change the scan lists without reprgraming with the motorola software. Just curious what scan list program is. Because the A-B-C listed above is how our radios are setup and no one ever uses "C"

Personally, my choice would be a Saber II or III, that way you will be able to see who you are receiving because there is no display on the HT1000. It is a good choice of radio, though.

I'll use mine as an example: When the switch is set to "C", you can use the green button to add/delete from the scan list. the green button will turn on/off the green light on top of the radio. Green light on = add, off = delete.

I'll just add that when doing the scan list program on the radio, you can hit the "green" (blue) button a second time to make that channel the priority channel, if your radio is so equipped (to allow you to edit priority). I was pretty sure that red was a scanned channel, green was a priority scanned channel, and dark was non-scanned.

I make my department's HT1000s A = scan, B = scan off, C = scan program. Under fire gear it's easy to bump the switch off C onto either B or A, so I don't want a "normal" function on the C position.

I make the emergency button Volume Set Tone, the blue button Nuisance Delete, and the other two side buttons Squelch and Light (on display radios; otherwise I just assign it something that won't matter if it's hit).

That could be correct... I don't see red on mine, but I think mine is set up to only have the selected channel as priority. I don't have a computer capable of programming a HT1000, so I can't verify.
