Default Type II Trunking Info

Hey all,
I'm currently trying to get a motorola type II trunking radio off ebay. The only problem that i have is that the programming is absolute gibberish to me. Having only worked in the conventional world, transfering to a trunked system is a little foreign to me. If anyone has some pearls of wisdom for which radios to go after and more specifically the programming of these things, it'd be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You might want to do a search on this as it has been discussed at great lengths.

As a System Manager I must warn you that any affiliation transmission is a violation of FCC rules, it can get your new purchase turned into a brick in short order, and probably the most important is that if not programmed correctly can cause issues with the system and could put someone's life in danger.

Programming trunking systems is NOT for the novice and unless you have official business on the system authorized by the system administrator should be done via a scanner.

Just curious what model of radio you were considering and what type II system do you wish to monitor.

X2 on the scanner suggestion. Unless you have read up on this topic very throughly and educated yourself you should consider a scanner.
