• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone know the password for Engineering Mode?

I am told you can adjust the sensitivity of the pager in this mode.

You really don't need Engineering Mode if you just want to use the Falsing Alert Adjustment feature which actually lowers tone decode sensitivity.

After you have Read the pager, close the User Data window if it is open. Hover your mouse over the picture of the pager and tap the "S" key.

If your copy of the PPS does not have an "Engineering Logon" choice in the Operation drop-down menu, there is no way to enter the password to get into Engineering Mode.

those instructions also works with the newest version of min4 software where motorola removed the engineer login dialog also.

Ver 1.72 has it.

Does anyone know what the revisions are and if you change them how it effects the pager. My pager will not open up on tones, how can I make it more sensitive? Any help is appreciated, thanks

Not sure what you mean by revisions. If you mean the version of the pager, that can't be changed unless it is a firmware revision, and those are few and far between.

Does the pager work OK when you are closer to the dispatch radio tower? If you're really close to the tower and the radio doesn't open, it's not a sensitivity issue. I'd more suspect incorrect tone or frequency programming. Or the pager is broke.

In the minitor engineer logon info you can change the revision, ?of the software?, whatever that means. The frequency is correct, I decoded the tones several times, have programmed different variations of them but the pager hasnt opened up with any of the variations. The tones always go out twice, with 2 scanners on the frequency, sometimes one scanner picks up both sets and one scanner only one set. The pager may pick up the first or both sets, there is a lot of interference on all the radios, no matter where I am in town, there is always a buzzing. I have adjusted the squelch both ways and that doesnt make any difference either.
