If you were close by, then maybe I could help, but I'm out of options for you.
It can be done, but I'm not sure if you may be missing a step. Hopefully someone else can chime in.
Good luck.

Interesting.... I just tried the Winhex method and it worked... kinda. I made up a password for my radio and dumped it in. Closed the CPS, then re-opened it and read the radio back. Found it no problems. Then on a whim I did the same thing again, except this time I programmed the radio from a different pc, but read it once again on this machine.... This time the password was nowhere to be found (yet I know the password I'm looking for is valid as I can enter it into the CPS and read the radio).
If you are having no luck at all with this method, the password can also be read using WireShark. Check the MotoTRBO forum over at Batlabs and you will find the details there. Look for a thread called 'MotoTRBO Password Interception'

I have a vhf codeplug for an XPR4550.. I don't know if you can use the Clone option to write it into your radio or not, but I can send it to you if you want to give it a shot. Otherwise surely there is someone else lurking on here that has a VHF codeplug for a portable kicking around. If not... I'm am just waiting for a programming cable to come in then I will be able to get an XPR6550 codeplug.

I just installed the ASTRO 25 Portable CPS version R17.01.02 and I can't seem to find the templates in the following directories:
C:\Program Files\Motorola\
C:\ProgramData\Motorola\
Is there a way to develop a codeplug from scratch?

no templates is kinda wierd. but there should be a codeplug in your radio. if worse comes to worse you should be able to find one on the net. it has to be for exactly the model radio you are using or it wont work.

The codeplug is in the radio, however, the codeplug was written with R17.01.00, I have R17.01.02. For some reason even with the advanced keys, I can't make any changes to the trunking personalities that was written with .00. I would like to start from scratch. I have about 4000 radios that I'm going to need to create codeplugs for. By the way, I'm very new to radio programming.

so the radio comunicates with the cps but you cant edit the codeplug? wierd. even though what you have is suppossed to work i would say to update te firmware on the radio and to get a codeplug made with r17.01.02
check out Batboard • View topic - Astro 25 Portable R17.01.02

We just purchased the radios, they have the latest firmware. When we purchased the radios we contracted a company to do the initial programming. They created the trunking personalities and zone assignments based on the information that we gave them. I can create new personalities and edit the zones but not edit the trunking personality that they created. It's not password protected and the advanced key that they used was my key. Now even with the same keys loaded I'm stuck not being able to edit it. Not only that but I also can't make any changes to the phone interconnect and scanning features. I can build a scan list but can't get the scan option to appear on the radio even after moving it into the menu. I'm kind of lost

My recommandation is, if you had some one else due the initial programming, then get with them and
verfiy that some other changes were not made that prevents you from doing what you wish to do.
Work with those people, setup your system so that you can make these changes in the futrue.

It sounds like they just made a system key and used it.

i agree. go to the guy who programmed the radios initially and ask him to explain why exactly you can not edit the codeplug. if this is not an option i would say to get a new codeplug, just make sure it is the correct version.

Or just use a standard system key to unlock the shaded out areas in the trunking sections.

Sounds like your advanced keys don't have the necessary permissions for trunking and the shop made their own system keys.

Yep. I notice the poster is in Fayetteville, NC. Which radio system
are you trying to program these radios to work on?
PM/Email me if you don't feel comfortable discussing this here in the
forums. I Might be able to point you in the direction of some help.
