Seeing as I have a receipt for the purchase of the radio from a very well known and reputable auction company. Buying through these large auction companies is good and bad. You can usually get a good deal but there are multiple agencies and states sometimes that are having there stuff sold in the auction. The bad being that you as the buyer unless the pike you buy has a dept label on it have no idea witch department it came form. And like with all of these auctions you buy as is. You can try and trash me all day long it does not bother me as long as you feel better about yourself at then end of the day. We all come here to share what we know about whatever brand we know with how ever much knowledge we may have.
It comes down to the fact I have a receipt for the legal purchase of the radio.
I got it and it did not work right out of the box and here we are.
And If I just got the radio to read to find out that it was stunned a day and a half ago then how would i have programmed it in the first place.

I would agree with you guys, the whole situation stinks like rotton fish...... And besides, how many PD agencies auction off a Motorola XTS 5000? It's not like the radio is an out dated model, Nor in capable of using on their system. I could see if it was an older model... Not what's current and "latest&greatest" in the lines of features. STINKY.........

Oh,no.....

I think the guy is at it again with that radio:

Motorola XTS 5000R 700/800 (MHZ) Model 2 with extras | eBay

You won't be trying to sell the radio again in the same cond, would you??

Did you run the serial no trough NCIC using a source like

Home :: Trace :: America's largest database of stolen goods

Did you get the bricked radio issue cleared up??Or is it still in the same BRICKED,cond???

So since you bought the radio legitimately, that gives you the right to sell it illegitimately?

A lot of agencies here are getting rid of them. They are at the end of their service life. Everything is switching to the APX series because of the features and the Phase 2 compliance. MOTO is hinting (or outright saying) that the XTS line will no longer be supported in a few years.

TDMA will render the 5Ks useless. And since some of the new APX monobanders are just hitting the markets, they are the same price as the 5Ks.

Expect to see a lot more of this in coming years.

You roll the dice, take your chances.
When i read this post i started thinking "Where did i hear that at?" and now i remember ... the 4.15 machine on the late nite rag chew. I cant wait to get in on the circle convo so i can ask questions on what i need to know more of. Listening is the best way to learn but, talking back to ask questions from my angle will increase knowledge on my ears end of the machine.

And YES ...its a gamble on every purchase, regardless of positive feedback on the sellers end!
