Default XTL1500 Programming

Hello, i'm trying to program an XTL 1500 via USB Cable in the Astro 25 Mobile CPS Version R17.01.02. When I try to read the radio, i get an error message that says "Open Radio Failed - Error Context: 24, Status: ecec00aa". Tried it on both a laptop running Windows XP and a desktop running Windows 7 - same thing. Cable is an OEM Cable ordered from Motorola. Any suggestions on what to try is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The CPS is not seeing the USB cable. This could be that you are missing a driver for that cable, or it could be that you are not pointing the CPS in the right direction.

Start CPS, with cable not plugged in to computer (or radio). Once CPS is fully booted, plug in the USB cable to the computer. Windows should automatically either load the right driver (if you already have it on disk) or assist you in downloading it.

After this is done, go to Device Manager and see if you see the USB cable listed. If so, you've cured the first problem.

Now attach cable to radio and do a read, but use "File|Read Device" (versus using the read icon in the tool bar). CPS should open a window asking what port to use. Select "USB."

Assuming neither the radio nor the cable is defective, foregoing has worked every time.
