Exclamation HT1250 UHF Problem

I have a motorola HT1250. Most of the time I don't use my lepel mic but today I put it on and was using it. I was told it sounds almost like its a Trucked or Digital radio talking. No one can understand me and I have no idea what it could be. I looked at all the connections in the radio they look fine. The lepel mic is almost brand new. Used a few time in the last year sense I bought it. Any ideas what it could be?

Does it still do this when you take the speaker mic off? If not, it's obviously a problem with the speaker mic. If so, check your battery age. I deal with HT750/1250's frequently. They can make some pretty strange sounds during transmitting or receiving when the battery has a lot of age on it.

Yup, take off the RSM and see if the problem persists. If the radio works fine without it, make sure there's no gunk on the contacts on either the RSM or the radio.

Worst case scenario, the PA is bad, that's an expensive fix especially if the radio is out of warranty...

Also, try another RSM if possible.

There is not a Date Code on the battery. I have 2 batteries that I got off Ebay and they both are the same. I changed to the spare battery I have and it still does the same thing. If you guys think it is the battery....I'll buy a brand new battery from the local shop and see how that works. But sense I have tried 2 different batteries I don't know if it is that or not. When I connect the lepel mic it almost sound like I am talking in digital witch i know can't be cause the radio does not do digital. lol. thanks for all the help.

Can you get an audio recording of what it sounds like? Is it possible the radio has a rolling code scrambler built in that you weren't aware of?

I have encountered 1250s with odd noises and reseating the internal flex connectors will sometimes help.

escomm is a great guy and hangs out on the batlabs forum. He is a Moto dealer and owns a shop in California. I've purchased several things from him with great results. You might hit him up over there and tell him what you need.

The mechanical flip up holder is broken or the actual trace inside the flex?
