Default Motorola Cp200 VS Icom IC F21

I'm just throwing this out there. I want to compair the Motorola CP200 with the icom ic f21. I have both. Which one is better? I say they are exactly the same! What are your views/comparisons of the radios.

I am not familiar with the CP200, but I have had a few F21s.

From what I see online, they do in fact cater to the same marketing target audience. The CP200 appears to be a newer design. You may find a wider variety of batteries and accessories for a newer radio versus an older one. The manufacturer is also more likely to support the radio for a longer time into the future, compared to an older design.

I'm pretty sure Icom has replaced the F21 with the F14.

While the radios may be similar, make sure you include the costs of programming software and cable in your figures.

Other than that, it'll mainly be a brand vs. brand thing, as in Ford vs. Chevy, etc.

The CP200 is Motorola's current lower teir ($$) handheld. The software is about $150.00/200.00.

The Icom F11/14 (VHF) and F21/24 (UHF) is Icom's lowe tier ($$) and both have been out of production since early 2011. The current low teir is the F3011 (VHF) and the F4011 (UHF). Software is about $50.00.

All of these radios perform about the same and the spec's are also about the same.

I have all of these in my rental fleet and I have not had any problems with any of them.
