Default Remote mount spectra

I have a Remote Mount Spectra and I want to be able to use the ignition sense on the DB15 connector instead of in the remote cable. Long story short, I don't have a wire coming out of the remote cable to put 12V to. I ran a jumper from Pin 5 of the DB15 connector to pin 22 of the remote cable I guess on the command board and the radio comes on, but after self test it shows AC/8875 or something like that. So do any of ya'll know of any jumpers that I can put to be able to use the DB15 connector instead of the wire inside the remote cable? I will also want to do the same for the speaker.

Thanks

You may have a 'second control head' cable that does not have the Green and Orange leads.
Or they were cut off near the connector. Assuming you have the later type control head cable.

The DB15 connector on the radio is NOT used for IGN sense, or ON-OFF control in a remote mount radio. Putting 12 volts there could smoke something....

Even with IGN control, the 12 volt line must be fused, I use a one amp fuse so it will not burn anything.. Be Safe....

The speaker leads work on most radios' DB15 connector.

What is the radio's model number? Radio head type?

The interface cable between the main RX/TX unit and the control head has everything inclosed in it. Excep the power, which is a heavy red/black with a polorized plug.

If you have a complete cable you will have a single plug on the main unit end and at the control head it will have plug and then there will be a orange wire and a green wire and then there is a pig tail of 'zip' wire with a molex conecter on it.

The orange wire goes to ingion (switched) hot, the green goes to full time 12v and the molex is for the speaker.

Unless you are running some aux items, do not plug any thing into the rear connecter on the main unit.

You are libiable to have LOTS of smoke.

You may find a diagram of what you need at Batwing Laboratories under Model Specific Information.

Ignition sense is a function of the control head. In a dash mount config, the rear DB-15 (pin 5 ignition) is routed to the control head through the radio chassis.

When you remote mount a Spectra, there is no wire in the control cable to bring ignition up from the rear DB-15 to the head. In a A4, A5, or A7 control head, the control cable has a pigtail ending with a DB-15 female at the head end. This is where you connect a single ignition wire (pin 5 again) that routes to the control head. If you have a 9000 (A9) head, you'll have a green and orange wire just sticking out below the head connector. As mentioned, hook both to a switched source.

To use the radio rear DB-15 for ignition sense in a remote config, you'll have to hijack onto a spare or un-needed wire in the control cable to bring it forward to the control head. Wouldn't do this without a schematic to make sure the wire isn't connected to something else that will blow the radio's mind. Big hack and a lotta work for a minor advantage in the install department.
