Default XTS3000 Inhibit

Well this is strange
My XTS3000 has been working fine and dandy all day, just connected the programming cable to pop in some changes to the codeplug. Shut the radio off, connected the cable, turned the radio on and screen was blank and green LED light wont go off.

Tried to write the codeplug and says

The radio codeplug being written is set to INHIBITED!
This means that this radio has been shut down by dispatch
YOU SHOULD INVESTIGATE AS TO THE REASON!
You can only uninhibit the radio from the dispatch or with a Depot Tool

And i get about every error code possible flashing on the screen after that.

The radio was only set for P25 conventional channels and all RX so not sure how this happen...

Options? Fixes?

Sound's like the controller failed. Any error code /90 is typically representative of a general hardware failure in a different area of the radio.

You could try writing the last known good codeplug to the radio, but without actually examining the radio, it's quite possible the hardware failed.

MTSX-Lab and a saved s-record could possibly get it back. But if the controller failed it won't. In that case it needs service from a qualified technician with the proper tools and equipment for the job.

I'm thinking failed codeplug write, which could lead to similar symptoms.

The inhibit flag was what cued it, as I've seen that exact circumstance occur before.

Failed write, inhibit flag set, radio went bonkers, displaying garbage in service mode.

S-rec push fixed it.

Even thou the radio was working for over 5 hours? Was programmed for about 2 days (put a different system then what is always in it) turned it on and off few times then on for the time i was in range of this other system
Shut it off for almost 2 hours turned it back on and it went dumb.

And a S-Rec. Errrmm... Now how would i go about saving that? Is it the file i use the tuner cps with?
If so then yeah.. the radio lets me read from it with tuner, just wont let me write a codeplug to the radio

Codeplug corruption can happen. But if it was working fine, THEN without notice, went retarded, then it's probably a hardware issue.

If you don't know what an S-rec is, you're dead in the water.

Go to p25.ca and post there, hopefully someone in your neck of the woods has the proper knowledge. Otherwise, you'd be shipping it somewhere.

If it's a hardware issue, you're toast.

If it's a corrupt codeplug, an S-rec push may help.

For the S-record, you would've had to had one saved already which it sounds like you don't. You need a program called MTSX-Lab to read/write these to a radio. You can use an s-record from another radio but it would need to be the same model number, flashcode, as close to your radio as possible.

Sounds like you had some trunking systems in there too. Are you sure you had it setup properly to passively scan. Perhaps you got inhibited by the system you were attempting to monitor.

This might be a dumb question, but if you read the radio, & save the file, is the "S" record in that file?

There was another member on here. A while ago he ran into the same issue with his astro saber not sure how he made out though.

Yes it is. But if the codeplug is corrupt and he never saved it before it went corrupt he's dead in the water if its not a hardware issue.

Thanks. I was actually just wondering for me should I have a problem down the road with any of my radios. I have saved Archives for all of them. You never know when the power might go off while programming a radio, although I use a UPS whenever programming.

No, the codeplug does not contain what you need to restore the radio. Lab has the ability to read s-records out of the radio and push them back in as long as the radio can still communicate.
If the OP's radio has a corrupted cp that the CPS will not recognize and will not let him dump a fresh cp in, then chances are lab will be able to dump an s-record in. He'll either have to use one he's saved or someone else's.

Do have the lab software. And finding a s-rec to match shouldnt be too hard. Rather basic flashcode in it
548008-000480-9 Model H09UCF9PW7BN

And the radio does have trunking, but only astro conventional RX only channels were in it. So no chance of it aff to a system or anything like that. And no system keys were uploaded to it.. So its just really wacky why all of a sudden after 5 hours of monitoring, then 2 hour time of no use and on power up.. does this

No possible way it can aff to anything when its all RX only and monitoring a trunked system via conventional astro channel

The radio will let me read/write with the tuner cps but not the other cps or read via lab

Guess trying to pop a s-rec in will be the sign if its hardware failure or what

Remember if you load a donor s-rec into the radio that wasn't from the radio, that you retune it after dumping the donor s-rec. Since you say you can access the tuning data via tuner, I'd recommend jotting down the current tuning data.
