Default Motorola XTS 2500 P25 radio

I was just looking for help to determine if this XTS 2500 800 mhz radio I am looking at purchasing for use on my rescue team will work on the Colorado state trunking system and if it is both 700mhz and 800mhz capable.

The model number is : H46UCH9PW2BN and the flashcode is : 501018-000488-8

This is the information on the state system i will need to operate on.

System Name: State of Colorado DTRS
Location: Statewide, CO NM UT
System Type: Project 25 Phase I
System Voice: APCO-25 Common Air Interface Exclusive

any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

That radio will definitely work. The options contained in that flashcode are as follows:
  • Q806 ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
  • H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display
  • H43 Trunked Remote Monitor/Radio Trace
  • Q883 3600/9600 Interoperability/Mixed Mode Signalling
  • H38 SmartZone Systems Operation
  • Q173 SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation
  • Q361 ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking
  • Q574 9600 Baud Trunking

Just pointing out the obvious here, and not wanting you to spend a bunch of cash on a radio that isn't going to work....

There is more required to accessing a trunked radio system than just the radio. There are system keys, radio ID's, etc. The radio will need to be programmed by someone who has the correct system keys for the system, and the radio will be assigned an individual ID number that must be active in the system.

Unless you have that, the radio will not transmit on the system. If you do have someone that can program it for you and they have the system key and access to the controllers to activate the radio, then you are good to go!

That last sentence is very important. You MUST have the radio authorized on the system and programmed correctly or you will end up with an expensive unusable brick in very short order, and someone from the State radio system looking for you.

This is VERY VERY true. As someone with experience with those types of systems, you do NOT want a radio that has been "Tx inhibited" by the agency. Big "no no", and /v\ Depot will NOT "un-inhibit" it for you. I suggest getting in touch with someone from the agency that monitors and controls the system before doing any sort of programming to monitor/use their system, unless of course, criminal records and fines are your sort of thing.
