Default Minitor I?

Anyone have any Minitor I's they still use, not as a reliable pager but to bring back old memories. I'm assuming most of your have II, III, IV, or V but I have every single one except a I at this point. How uncommon is it to come across one of these beasts?

Thanks

I have one that I got at the free table during a radio club meeting a few months ago. It works and all, but it isn't programmed for any freqs in my area, so it is kind of useless. I don't really need it... are you looking for one to purchase? If you are looking to purchase one, send me a PM and I'll give you details and pics.

I have two minitor ones on 154 MHz that were given to me by a local sheriffs forest patrol for programming a bunch of low n high band posse radios. I still use both for monitors, the make excellent single channel receivers.

I am trying to do this as inexpensive as possible, The FD was only given 25 pagers by the county, They had to buy 2way radios for those of us that dont have a pager, The radios are a pain to carry when your mowing grass or going in a store with the family. I dont need one to even alert the 2way does that, I just need a very inexpensive option for listening for fire calls.

Default old minitor pagers

The problem with using a older minitor pager for actual emergency use is they are made for wide FM not narrow bandwidth that is now required. I use a Minitor 1 as a receiver for my local FD but the audio is like you have your radio volume turned way down. plus they might or might not alert with a marginal signal. You might be able get a radio shop to swap out the IF crystals to help though.

What freq is your dept on? Using a repeater or simplex?

See ya,

Richard

We havent narrow banded as of yet, and i dont need it to alert....just a small scanner is all it will be.
Repeater on a mountain about 4 miles as a crow flies,

If you're looking on ebay search for a minitor instead of a minitor 1 maybe, the original was just called the minitor
