Hello new here. I am also a licensed amatuer. I decided to go the Motorola commercial route and so far i dig it. I really don't think i could ever go back to the big three company's that offers amatuer radios.

Where did he say XTS2500? I think he said that he's new. But he'd better be ready to suffer the insults of the dunderhead hams who think that Motorola stuff is "too exotic" for amateur use.

Wow look at you Mr. Mind reader!
I have a xts 3000(2weeks old) and new xts2500i (waiting to be delivered). Both are VHF. IMHO I'm in love with the ht's. I'm glad I sold my vx-8dr and tried mother /v\ gear. BTW both are p25.

While I have lots of Motorola radios set to the local freq's I use, I still have a few Icom radios should I travel, & need to scan in VFO mode to find repeaters where I am. Those ARRL books seem to be 60% accurate, as repeaters come & go, & the next printing may be 7 months in the future.

Did you just call me a dunderhead?

Nothing wrong with using any kind of radio on the ham bands. Whatever floats your boat.

I take exception to the rule that the Big Three (Yaseu, Kenwood, Icom) don't make good radios. They do for the money. But no ham is going to pay $4000.00 for a multi-band handheld. To get Yaseu VX-8R frequency coverage, you would need a Thales Liberty or a Harris XG-100. We are talking car down payment money. You usually get what you pay for.

I guessed at the XTS moniker. He could have an XTS-3000 or whatever. Good for him.

And welcome to Radioreference, Anavagh you will like it here in spite of some of us. LOL>>

I seem to be having trouble posting a thread in the classified section?
I'll admit I do like the amateur gear a lot but I also really like project25.
