Default XTS 5000 FPP Codeplug

I recently purchased an excellent VHF XTS5000 from a friend. When it arrived, I discovered that its codeplug was setup for FPP, which I know little about and really prefer to program my radios the old fashioned way. In talking with my friend, neither of us can figure out a way to delete the 240 conventional personalities in the radio's codeplug so I can convert the Personalities, Zones and Channels back to CPS programming only.

Can anyone offer any advice on the best way to modify this codeplug so I can program it in the way I am accustommed to? It would help me to not receive any comments about why I don't want to use FPP - I JUST DON'T!!!

Thanks everyone,
Metrofire31

If you have the correct cable and software, you should be able to read the radio, save the file, then go into a zone, choice a bank then delete channels, then delete the bank then delete the zone.

Now do this untill you only have one zone then enter all your new information save the file then write to the radio.

Some where (I currently do not have my programing computer) in the options is the enable/disable for the FPP.

The FPP radios have to have at least one zone of FPP, 16 channels so 16 personalities. I believe you can delete each zone beyond that but no more without removing Q52 and Q53 from the flashcode, which is probably the best remedy anyway. On one of the windows (I believe Zone) there's a checkbox to enable or disable FPP/protection (or something to that effect).

Thanks to you both for your advice. I will give that a try.

You dont want FPP program it as normal and then remove that icon from the soft keys.. Problem solved. I mostly use my CPS to program mine but keep the FPP in if I have to change something on the fly. Whats the big deal?

n the softkeys setup program there are two columns. One column is the one you select from, and the other column is the one you activate. If you fail to activate the FPP key the radio still retains the capability but you can't select it from the front of the radio, so you can keep the feature, though hidden, against the day when you need to sell the radio.
