The MCS2000 is a stellar radio, I have a couple of 450-520 "S" split radios that work better than factory spec down to 440MHz. I still say the two-line 14 character display of the model III is one of the best, easiest to read and well designed control heads of any Motorola radio made in the last 20 years.
These radios are getting very affordable on the used market, and they still have much life left, do narrowband like a boss, and if you get one with a "whored out" flash, you can have a really killer radio for not much cash.
