• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello. I have a friend who has a XTS 3000 and is having one issue with it.

He has Talkgroups he wants to put in scan and scan those only. So he made a scan list with just the Talkgroups only that he wants to scan in that scan list. He put them in there and has everything set up. Now when he goes to that Zone Folder with those Talkgroups and puts it in scan, the RED LIGHT keeps on blinking and he is not getting any calls coming through from any of those Talkgroups. It is light something is always transmitting and keeping the light blinking all the time.

Is there something he is missing that he should check off or uncheck or something else wrong for why it is doing this.

I will be waiting for any replies from anyone on here to help me out with this issue so I can let my friend know what the issue is and hopefully how to fix it and get it to scan those Talkgroups in that SCAN LIST.

Thanks.

Wow, just wow.

Your friend has a blinking red light on a radio that's obviously on a trunking system he isn't authorized on.

Your friend needs to sell the radio and buy a scanner.

Maybe his "friend" should join RR so we could interact with him directly.

This guy again....good grief!

Hey coolguy. If you are truely are coolguy you would have researched this topic by now and would not be here asking questions such as this. You've had plenty of time since the last time you asked the same question.

Not to play "radio police" you should stop using that radio on a trunked system if your not an authorized user.

Anyway, if the red-light blinks at ANY time when on trunked talkgroups that means the radio is attempting to affiliate with the system, which means it is attempting to transmit on whatever frequency is programmed in the band plan to communicate with the control channel. Regardless of whether the band plan has been screwed with to prevent the radio from actually talking on the system is moot, the radio is still attempting to transmit on some frequency. You should get the programming checked, doesn't matter whether it was programmed "a long time ago" or yesterday, the programming is wrong.
