• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone,
Quick question for the people who are more familiar with the older Motorola gear. Because Motorola discontinued their production of HT 1000 battery there's not much info on their website anymore.

So my question is what is the best battery for the radio and where would I be able to acquire a reliable newer battery. Yes I know to look on ebay and amazon and anywhere else they sell batteries, but I am really not sure on which one to get and who to get it from. Any answers would be very appreciated.
Thank you!

Also, I know I'm going to get a lot of flak for suggesting it, but I'm going to anyway ;-)

I know some people have had really bad experiences with them, but I have had nothing but great experiences with Imax Expert on ebay. My personal Jedi all have their 2100mAhs on them, and they work great. I also currently have a ht1000 fleet running them, and after a year and a half, the users are telling me they are still going strong through a 16 hour, high duty cycle day without double-chirps.

Obviously, nothing is as good as OEM Impres, and for that +1 for Sandy's Comm. But If you don't want to pay that much.........

HT 1000 battery

There is more than one type of Impress charger. I have one that does NiCd and NiMH but not Li-on, and another that does all three. For an older radio, the NiMH are probably the best choice.

I bought a few new OEM Motorola 2000Mah NiMH non Impress batteries from a seller on eBay for $50 each. The 1500Mah and 1800Mah Chinese knock-off brands I have tried all last about 1/4 the length of the OEM 2000 one.

Here is a current eBay seller with them.....another has them for just over $25, but the date codes are from 2009, and they appear old style. Also, don't cheap out and get an off brand belt clip, the OEM clips are much better, and don't flex and fall off.
