• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Sad day for Motorola and America

Another US manufacture sells out to foireign ownership. Mortorla is now Chinese ownership.. Its one thing, that your radios are built in foreign countries but ownership, thats just bad. About the only radio that is made in the US is Ten Tec.

Motorola that makes wireless phones and braodband devices is now part of Levano. Motorola Solutions, which makes and sells two-way communications is still intact as US based company.

EF Johnson makes most of their subscriber radios in the USA.

Public safety officials in today’s economic climate need to be increasingly mindful of how tax dollars are spent and to obtain the best value for the money. Funding must go further than ever before. Our value proposition is simple. We allow you to put more radios into the hands of your first responders and help keep your citizens safe. EF Johnson Technologies radios have passed numerous interoperability tests on government facilities, in independent laboratories, and even at the headquarters of our biggest competitor. Our radios deploy the second-generation AMBE+2 Project 25 Vocoder for loud, clear digital audio that first responders require. Look closely at your radio supplier - where are their radios manufactured? EF Johnson Technologies radios are made in the USA.

Motorola Solutions also just finalized & officially completed the sale of its "enterprise" business to a company called Zebra. That was some of the bar code readers & RFID tracking devices sold under the Motorola "symbol" name. That had been announced back in April, but was just finalized in October. Not sure where Zebra is based out of, didn't care enough to search it out.

Motorola Solutions is still based out of Shaumburg Illinois, and still sells two way radios. Plenty of their products and/or components are made overseas. Just like every other electronics manufacturer, even if the product says it was "assembled in the USA" - doesn't mean all the components were sourced in the USA.
