Yes. If you program all the Traffic channels into your scanner, you can hear voice on them. Unfortunately, you will also hear all the data bursts, if the county is using MDTs or anything similar on the GoTo Channels.

You can decode the Control Channel through the soundcard on a computer, with VBTrunk (also known as Trunksnort), and if you have an AOR AR8200 or Uniden 780XLT, you may also be able to TrunkTrack using this program.

URL for VBTrunk is: "http:/hometown.aol.de/trunksniffer/index_2.htm"

You can scan MPT1327 systems using software (there are free and commercial versions around).
Alternatively, if you put the voice channel freqs into your scanner memory you should be able to follow most conversations unless the system is very busy

If you're referring to the entry in the RR Database, the person who submitted that information stated that they might use MPT1327 as their format. Since the system is currently not online, yet, it's anyone's guess as to exactly which flavor of trunking they will go with.

How do you know the voice frequencies? All I can find are bursts of funny tones. I don't know if it's possible but I am going to try trunk sniffer with a BR330T. It states that it could work with other Uniden scanners. I will have to wait until after christmas though to buy a sound card lead.
I am just interested to learn about trunk tracking and I think this might be a good way. I don't know if I will be successful because I know nothing about it yet.

If you're only getting 'bursts of funny tones' then its probably NOT an MPT1327 system.

The MPT1327 Control Channel transmits continuously, and an example of what it sounds like can be found at www.kb9ukd.com/digital/. I suggest you identify a Control Channel first.

I'd agree that it probably isn't MPT1327 that is being heard.

...but MPT1327 doesn't have to have a continuous control stream. Examples which don't are the NRN system and the Utility Companies systems in the UK.
