Default Trunkview V1.21

Hi All,

I see a newer version 1.21 of Trunkview MPT1327 software decoder has been released.

On the Dutch Website the info is now in English & the software also now supports Icom radios aswell.

Only those with CI-V interfaces, and I am talking to the author about 330/396 support... its a long way off though!

Trunkview is not aware of different countries as such (though I'd be interested to know if anyone in France has used it).

I think the question topcop is trying to ask is something like "Are there MPT1327 systems in the USA where this program would be useful?" The answer to that question is yes. They are relatively rare but there are a few out there. Check the RR DB to see if you have one in your area.

Strange way to ask that...hey ho, guess Oscar Wilde was right.

A friend tells me Trunkview now has PC-R1000 support but further updates are being done before the author releases a new version on his site.

Thumbs up It works for me

I use this program to monitor an MPT1327 system in Douglas County, Oregon. I do not have a radio that will interface with the program. But, I tune a scanner to one of the control channels and feed it into my computer via an audio cable. It gives me all kinds of system information as it decodes the data sound. Trunkview tells what channels are active, who is using them, what other adjacent sites there are in the network and what control channel frequency they are on. This system is not active full time yet. Traffic is techs checking its coverage and operation. When operational, I think trunkview will really help to fully monitor this system and figure out who is using it and figure out radio id's and etc.. Very nice program - thank you.

Do you have a radio that can be computer controlled? The author is willing to work with people to add support for other radio types if the control protocol is known.

Recently hooked up Trunkview to my 780 to decode Mohegan Sun Casino MPT1327 system in S.E. CT. Got it to work but since upgrading having a problem trying to re-load the saved site system back into Trunkview. For some reason it won't open the saved site system settings. Anyone having this problem or know what the problem may be???

If the BC-245 protocol is supported, then the program will operate any computer-controlled Uniden model. However, there are extended commands in the 296/796 and in the 396/996 series' that I think would be helpful for users of those radios. (I've noticed some flaws in Trunker's control of my 296 at times.)

Dave,
What are the extended commands that "would be helpful"?

I don't know the protocols. I just know that the newer scanners can do more things, therefore there are probably more commands.

Just two examples - SET MODE and SET STEP (or whatever they are called) would be good. The 245 receives all possible trunking bands in FM mode at the default wideband step size, so only the frequency needs to be set by the software. The 296 and 396 have user-selectable modes and step sizes, and sometimes the defaults are wrong.

My 296 often tunes to 800 MHz trunking channels in FM instead of NFM, which makes the audio very soft. If the software could tell the scanner to monitor the frequency in the correct mode, then this would be an improvement over the basic 245 protocol.

For Uniden scanners that use the same protocol as the 780, TrunkView presently sets the modulation to NFM. Unfortunately Uniden scanners that have the Dynamically Allocated Channel Memory feature, also have a totally different protocol, so are presently not supported by Trunkview.

No problems experienced here. I have even edited the files externally, and still not managed to cause any problems.

"Napalm" can probably tell you more but 330T is now supported but the author hasn't released it at large yet.

Yep PCR100/0 support and 330/396 is working.

Author hasn't released it to the general public as we're still testing it, but 330 works perfectly once we figured out how to enter a frequency into VFO mode (QSH).

Slight issue with the PCR-100 but it tracks like all the other scanners (it just needs you to enter a menu and come out and it works fine, I suspect theres just one missing command somewhere). PCR-1000 I am told has no such problems.

Hi again Morfis I'm pretty sure we know each other off RR.

edit: The command for the 330/396/996 series is:
QSH,FREQ,STEP,MODE,bunch,of,other, stuff - its all in the PDF that uniden give you with the command list. Essentially that's it. Frequency is entered as: 01234500 - 123.450MHz. Step is: 1250 - 12.5kHz.
