What does that acronym mean, and what's the freq?

No idea what the acronym means, but I believe the frequency in question is 149.0800MHz

It's actually SAR-IF, and that stands for Search and Rescue Interagency Frequency. It's a nationwide simplex channel reserved for SAR use, but like anything else, is horribly misused.

That is what I have as well and is in all my scanners and have only heard something on this once in the last couple of years.
