New OPD TG
Morning, everyone!
If anyone's been listening to DouglasCounty TGID=25 this morning, you've been listening to what sounds like an OPD training exercise involving multiple active shooters at a hospital on West Maple.
The exercise started at 1030a and involves "Training 367", "Training 368", "Adam9", and "Union 2".
I don't see TG 25 in the DouglasCounty list, so I think I'll submit it as "OPD Training Academy".
Pretty interesting listening, for sure!

Morning, George. TG 25 was popping up during the afternoon on 03/24 as well
Also, OPPD had a new TG, 1542, last night. Might be Security, a Bravo unit was calling Central

Hey, Rich!
Yeah - I've heard 1542 before and I would agree that it sounds like security-related communication.
That training exercise this morning lasted for around 20 minutes and was pretty authentic-sounding. My blood was pumping just listening as the dispatcher gave out the details from an on-site caller who was feeding OPD intel on the assailants.
I need to come up with a better reception apparatus so that I can hear the 0107 OPPD site at UNO! My office is sub-grade and my little 396T, even with the high-gain 800MHz-optimized "tower" antenna on it, I have to hold the scanner just right to even get 1 bar of signal!

I saw it on unitrunker today Geo, but didn't have time to listen. OPD has been doing all their
academy stuff on Event 5 the last few weeks. I'll try to remember to look when it was first logged, if
you're interested. |

Yeah - it's been a hoot listening to the car-driving exercises on TG=615 recently!
Do you know where the driving course and the Training Academy are located?
I didn't catch the full name of the Hospital involved in this morning's shooter exercise, but it didn't seem to be one that I had heard of in Omaha before, especially on West Maple Road. Is there a Hospital up that way?

It's funny that the City of Omaha would build the training center outside the city limits. When there was AFD or other resuce calls to the training center, we, Irvington, would respond. Sometimes Bennington joined us in the confusion, too.
The fire board figured Omaha would annex the Blair High Road right of way from I-680 to Rainwood. Strange, though, they haven't.

This is Douglas County Sheriff's Dept. doing active shooter trainig at the VA home by the SO not OPD.
