Today I was picking up Norfolk Fire and Rescue on there 800mhz freq in West Point. West Point is about 45 min from Norfolk with some huge hills in the way. The real amazing part is Iam picking it up on a Uniden handheld scanner with the stock rubber ant on it. Has any body else noticed it today????

mr_tunz, FM tropo propagation has been excellent the past 2 days. So it very well have been a bit of tropo. It doesn't happen very often over 800mhz band.

But check these FM 88-108mhz DX catches I got from 06/25:

All of these stations were booming in at full quieting for long periods, in crystal clear FM stereo!,

RadioShack DX 390

Antenna:

Plain old whip attached to radio and up on the top floor of my apartment!

Yeah I can hear the York County SO on 453.9000 and Marshall County KS on NAWAS damn near full scale. You'd think the guys were in the car with you.

You know its up when you press the "scan/seek" button on your stereo and it stops at every channelized increment.
