Default state patrol in fremont

last night (saturday) i was driving around with my low band antenna when i started hearing crystal clear transmissions on 42.2. this is the first time i have EVER heard anything audible on that frequency. after listening for a little bit i determined they were performing an undercover operation. they were staking out the hy-vee grocery store trying to catch people buy alcohol for minors. they were using a brand new dodge durango, a newer dodge dakota with a topper, and one of those f 1-250 pickup trucks the state patrol uses. the ford truck was the only vehicle you could tell was law enforcement related, the other 2 just had regular douglas county liscense plates (no antennas or anything). i watched them follow 1 person clear across town, and wait a half a block away waiting for these kids to open their trunk (thats where the beer was). i had to go do something so i didnt stick with that until the end, but i was listening a little later on and they were at it again with someone else. this person they caught in the whiskey creek parking lot. the person parked in a parking stall, and the 3 vehicles had them completely blocked in. just they way they all parked perfectly together, looked kinda "professional"
if it makes the paper ill post a link to the story

42.200 is one of the rarely used NSP frequencies. However, you should keep it in your regular scan list. When it is active, it is usually something good. NSP would use it around Lincoln. When the NSP aircraft were called in to assist with surveillance or search, this was a frequently used frequency to communicate between mobiles and the aircraft. NSP has encryption capabilities on 42.200, but I have never heard it used. You will notice encrypted capable radios will have a small chirp at the beginning of each transmission to alert the user that they are transmitting in the clear.

Last year as I was coming back from Denver, NSP was using 42.2 near Grand Island. NSP was working the drug dog and was sniffing vehicles that were pulled over.

ha thats funny you were stalking some under cover ops.

I think the fact they were all similar vehicles that were not even plated in that county would have been the first tip off. Why drive clear to Fremont to buy beer when they could easily do it in Omaha? No one thought of that?

lol yeah, im sure i wasnt helping there undercoverness by driving by their "perp" a few times with a huge antenna in that one incident

they werent trying to get people to buy beer, i think they were just watching the parking lot, watching for someone to come out with alot of beer and get into a car full of minors. i like the way they talk so casually just joking around and kinda making fun of the person there watching

I heard NSP on this channel about three months ago follow someone on Dodge then US275 to fremont. It was a helicopter and about three mobile units. It was fun listening to it.
The beep for the person transmitting it is not actually transmitted by the radio but you can hear the echo of the beep sometimes. This is an option for any MOTO encryption capable radio.
