Default Omaha Fire Rebanding ???

A friend of mine with the Omaha Fire Dept. told me that yesterday he had to bring his mobile and portable radios in to have them rebanded. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks

If by "this" you mean rebanding in general, see:

Default Clarification

Sorry, I wasn't too clear ... by "this" I meant if anyone has any info as to the fact of OFD (Douglas County) rebanding and to what frequencies.

Everything is moving exactly 15 MHz. lower in frequency.

But it wasn't necessary to reprogram their radios, because if they were programmed properly
when the city bought them they should have been pre-programmed for the move.

Basically, what this means is that all of the control channels for the present NPSPAC
channels are programmed in the radios, plus the 4 rebanded control channels.

Then you had to "check a box" somewhere in the software to let the radio know it was rebanding ready.

Maybe this wasn't done?

Yes, OFD is starting the rebanding process. It will take one day per station.
I believed OPD will be last due to the high number of radios.

Obijohn, I dought that the process you are talking about was done. You have to remember they got their radio when the XTS5k and XTL5k first came out.
Hopefully they do some firmware updates to improve the radio audio. It doesn't sound like they have done any firmware updates compared to newer radio system (Kansas statewide, Illinois statewide and Milwaukee County, WI)
Also they may not go exactly 15Mhz down. Look at Washington county they added a frequency for their rebanding.
Hopefully this will help the cell phone drop out.

FWIW, I have been hearing some testing on the analog 800 mutual aid frequencies, or whatever they are called. . . .

You have to put the new control channels in the radios, so that is why they are reprograming.

They be also be tweaking fleetmaps.

Here in Omaha? I haven't heard any testing or use on the Icall/Itac rebanded frequencies.
If they are testing/using the rebanded Icall/Itac freqs do they still use 156.7 pl tone?

I was monitoring from Bellevue anyways. They were using both the old freq and the new re-banded one. Unsure about the PL.
