Default Cruise Nite

This weekend is Cruise Nite in Kearney (July 17+18).

There will a lot of scanner activity for our normally fairly quite town. I am all prepared ....... Tonight my husband is playing in an on-line D&D game, the kids are at my brothers in Wyoming, I have a new bottle of wine and a Garrison Keillor book. This will be a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. The only thing that could make it better is if it were cold enough to put a fire on in the corn stove.

Nothing too interesting.....just what you would expect, lots of things involving alcohol, loud music/party and the unwanted subjects. What I find so amazing is how well everything is handled. There are ambulance calls to nursing homes, calls ALL over town, calls for ALL different kinds of things and officers helping from different agencies, yet there doesn't seem to be issues or short tempers. Makes me proud of the guys !!

Currently my husband works all kinds of hours, it changes from day to day. In two weeks he starts a new job, where he will have set hours and regular days off. On Friday, he went and got a power cord to the scanner he likes the best (I had just been using batteries) because he likes to have it on when he is home and didn't want to have to worry about the batteries. Thing is he did it while I was at work, as a surprise !! how sweet is that

We get some interesting calls when things are going on in downtown Lincoln. Zoo Fest was last weekend, a celebration of the Zoo Bar being in business for 36 years. Things were pretty quiet for that, but there was an event a few weeks ago, that had kinds of things going on. Fights, underage drinking, and even a few foot pursuits through the crowds. It's always interesting to listen to when things are going on downtown.

I think my favorite thing was a call for a guy passed out in someones yard. They got there checked his ID, he has a warrant, so they woke him up and took him to jail.
