Smile ORION TG 1005-Active, and...

Sounds like Motorola is doing extensive testing of ORION/OPPD towers tonight. The Techs would mention Control Channel 3 back to normal, Telbasta, Herman, and Titan towers, "channel 6 is not used in the combiner" synchorization, "radio service test 12345, 54321, over" and when is dinner?

I noticed the ORION Control freq, 868.7625 would "drop" for a few seconds then come back up.

Also, TG 5083 was popping up frequently tonight as well. All of this activity was occuring between 2000-2230.

Anybody else have any further info on what Radio Service was doing tonight? Preparation for rebanding, Pott County, NLMRS???

I would say that the techs are working on the Washington county sites, due to site location you mention and FCC database. Washington county is slotted to be the first one to switch to the rebanded frequencies on the ORION system. It could be rebanding on their sites.

Exclamation Washington County site rabanding complete

What your were hearing was Washington county rebanding. They are using their rebanded frequencies the control channel is 853.4250. My 396XT tracks the system with out putting in any band plan. I have only heared one conversation from their site and the voice channel was 851.xxxx.
Unknown what they were talking about with channel six. The FCC database only shows five channels, frequencies, for this site.

I wonder if this isn't a Pott County TG, or maybe one from our friends out west?

Howdy!

I've run across 173 as well, but only on a very limited basis - maybe once or twice a week. When I've heard it being used, it almost sounded like maintenance workers talking about things like air handlers and air filters in the "housing units".

Just my 2-cents worth!

Could also be Omaha Housing Authority.
