... is online as of this afternoon!

Heard the Motorola guys saying talking to the TOC saying, "Yeah, we're bringning Omaha online this afternoon and are range testing".

CC is 173.7625 and is showing up as a Neighbor to Plattsmouth.

I'll post a Pro96Com file in just a bit!

I hear it! Not as strong as the Plattsmouth tower though.

Hey, Autovon!

Interesting... it should be quite strong into Elkhorn, even more so than Plattsmouth, I would think!

As far as I know, it should be on the NSP tower at around I80/I680.

disappointing.. not getting it from inside my apartment in southeast fremont, using a psr 500 with a diamond rh77ca. maybe ill venture out this evening for a closer look..

with the entire system being active by the end of this month (as i read in the NWIN thread), would it be safe to say the cedar bluffs tower will come online tomorrow?

Howdy, Squier!

Yeah - I have a similar signal level here in Murray, NE - the site covered really well down HW75 until I got to the southern part of Sarpy County. You saw AVSFan's post and he lives in Elkhorn, though he has significant terrain to the east of him.

They may still be adjusting the site's parameters or may have a bonafide problem. At UNO, it wasn't 100% signal strength either. At first, I really thought it _was_ Cedar Bluffs, until I heard the radio tech say, "Yeah, we're putting Omaha on the air this afternoon".

I would say Cedar Bluffs would be a very good candidate, as would Sterling - I'm waiting for that one to pop-up, myself!

Not a scientific test at all, but I just have my handheld sitting on a windowsill and Plattsmouth comes in (this S scale is not scientific either) 4/4 and Omaha comes in 1/4. Using outside antennas everything is very strong obviously. I'm pretty close to LaPlatte along Hwy 75.

Can you get Craig tower from Fremont? I went on a quick trip east of Norfolk and got Craig and Jones Creek fairly decent, this was sitting atop the hills east of town on 275 on a Pro106/Radio Shack mag antenna. I was surprised I didn't get Elgin, which I venture to head west to gather more information.

I get the Omaha and Plattsmouth towers full scale at home 192/Blondo area on both 996T and 996XT with telescope antenna.
Cedar Bluffs will really help out in Fremont. Sometimes when NSP is doing an alcohol sting in Fremont their radio will affiliate to the OPPD Cedar Bluffs site, when using 800.

Top of the Evening, Rich!

When I was driving down HW77 toward Fremont last Sunday, I had my 396XT with me, connected to the Austin Spectra on my vehicle.

It was around the Weigh Scales north of the HW91 turn-off at Nickerson where I lost Craig. It was still somewhat reliable at Logan View HS, on the hill north of Winslow, but even there, the signal was fading in and out.

Fremont is in the area between the Plattsmouth and Craig coverage circles - the forthcoming Cedar Bluffs tower will be a real advantage for the Fremont area.

And, BTW - the "Craig" tower is actually north and west of the village of Craig, on a tall NPPD tower.

George,
Looking over the tower info you posted look at the transmit frequency for the alt control channel 851.00625. Don't know if it is just a default of pro96com. It is default frequency in Motorla CPS for 800Mhz radios.

Good morning, AVS!

Nice catch - and look at the input frequency for the Primary, as well - 166.0000 is probably not the correct one, either.

They may still be working on the programming, or this is the way the installers are keeping subscriber radios from affiliating with the site while final adjustments are taking place.

I'm doing more logging with Pro96Com today, so should have better/more complete info later today!

I live about a mile south of 42nd and harrison. I'm getting full signal strength on both omaha and plattsmouth towers using a 996xt with a outdoor AOR SA-2700 wideband antenna.

I found out my scanner isn't picking up anything so I'll retest on my other scanner and let people know if I can get the tower.

What tower is the Omaha site on, anyway?

I know it's a bold question, as we've heard that the NSP tower, or possibly another one close-by was to be the "host"!

However, while driving south on I680 between West Dodge and I80, and monitoring the Omaha CC, the signal took some serious dips in strength as I drove behind terrain to my west.

Considering I was less than 2 miles north of the NSP tower, I have to conclude that the Omaha site is NOT on the NSP tower, but rather on a tower to the west.

My uncle, who is also a Ham and has been in the radio communications business since before I can remember, suggested that the site _may_ be on the tall OPPD tower north of 180th and West Dodge. The hypothesis has quite a bit of merrit as he's witnessed NPPD and OPPD co-locating communications gear where it makes sense.

That site is on high ground and is well-connected in the microwave and networking sense, not to mention that it's an interconnect point between N-WIN and the overall ORION system.

Just a thought! Anyone have any supporting evidence?

Gabe can you receive the the OPPD Elkhorn tower? If so it is not at the 180/Dodge location. I don't think they would pick that site knowing there would be one in Cedar Bluffs. I believe the original site location was on a NET tower in North Omaha.
Gabe might having terrain issues. I believe he uses an 800Mhz scanner antenna.
Gabe try the original antenna for your scanner and see if that make a difference.

I receive the OPPD - Elkhorn site perfectly at 99%. NWIN has nothing, even on antenna change. This is at 78th and Blondo, Omaha, NE.

173.762500 is nothing.
172.600000 is nothing.
171.437500 is nothing.

I programmed the system the same as ORION using p25 auto. I will try testing right now by going down to Midtown crossing when I see a movie. I'll see what I get.
