I think it's broken. I'm seeing 3-4 bars and during a sentence it....hesitates. Every couple seconds it's like it pukes on itself. Baker 1 9, dist..ance at 1149 ma..le street.
When it's puking on itself it sounds like the dispatcher has released the mic and then depresses it again.
And that's when it's receiving well.
Other times as mentioned previously I miss out on the middle part of sentences. That's why I think it's broken. It sounds ok and then just stops only to come back in a couple seconds later loud and clear.
Honestly, the only reason i got this was to listen to OPD police dispatch. I may as well listen to active hats stream.
At this point in time I think I'm going to send it back. I'll see how I feel about it in the morning.
You guys think I'm out of line on this? Are my expectations too high?
I don't even want to listen to it anymore right now.

Based on various things (including ActiveHat's post), it's probably digital simulcast issues which other users are reporting works well on the x36 radios (but not all).

Curious - is there anything else in your area to try to listen to other than that system? How well does it receive other systems/channels?

It is definitely digital simulcast issues. One thing to check is make sure that weather priority is turned off. I think it may also be called SKYWARN or something.

I changed the modulation from nfm to fm on the 800mhz bands and thought it made a difference but I was incorrect.
However, I am currently fiddling with the p25 threshold mode and think I'm making progress.
I will update with results.

Troymail: I've been able to hear Minneapolis Center traffic fairly well. CB is disappointing but I'm pretty sure that's because of my antenna. I'm able to hear Mall security at a nearby mall. I was interested to see/hear there's public school traffic but I haven't heard many of those. Overall i'm getting what I expect from those frequencies. I can tell they are a fair ways off when they come in.

ActiveHat: I have weather priority turned off.

For Nebraska SRS I hasn't getting anything at all. I had to switch it to FM and my error rate is 0 all the time. This is for my 536hp

What is your location in the city?
Is it just when dispatch is talking are you having problems or is it also when the officers talk?
What talk groups are you scanning?
Have you tried using your scanner anywhere else in the city, if so do you have the same problems?

ORION_NE
I'm 6 miles to the southwest of this southermost tower. (Location 5)
WPWE526 (DOUGLAS, COUNTY OF) FCC Callsign Details

I'm only monitoring North EAST and WEST and South EAST and WEST.
Only those 4 channels and only the control frequency of Douglas CO. Simulcast.

I take it to the 180th and center area and I get the same problems.

180/Center is going to be the simulcast problem.

Where you are that's a system coverage problem. 156/Harrison is a known area to have receptions problems for end users.
