Hey everyone the wife and I will be coming out to Vegas the end of this month. We'll be staying at the Excalibur. I'll be monitoring Clark County Fire and Metro PD. My question are the freqs. used normal 800 or are they on a splinter system. I'll be monitoring with a Pro-96. Here in San Diego the county is on a normal system, but the city is on a splinter system. Thanks for any help.

The fire departments in the LV valley use the SNACC system which is a Motorola 800 MHz Type II. The LVMPD is still on VHF high band conventional for the most part. If you are looking for a very good and most accurate source of information for this area you might want to pick up a copy of a local scanner book entitled, "Southern Nevada Radio Scanner Directory" which goes into great detail for law enforcement, fire services, local gov't., aviation, hotels & casinos, taxi & limos, ham radio, and more. It is 51 pages packed with information. Currently, two stores seem to carry the product along with a March 2005 update sheet and they are Amateur Electronic Supply (800-634-6227) and Radio World in Boulder City (702-294-2666). Radio World is $1 less than AES for the book. I have a copy and really enjoy it. Hope I have steered you in the right direction.
