Question NHP and GRE300

I'm going to buy the GRE 300 soon. But just to be
sure do I need to get a digital scanner to pick up
NHP in the Carson and Reno area.

The main use is for air freq's in town
and when I go to Reno and Carson City FD/SO
when I'm home.

I read somewhere on this site that I just add the
towers to the scanner. So for NHP in my area
just find the closes tower as Carson and Reno
are not listed in the database.

A digital scanner is not necessary to monitor the Nevada Shared Radio System which includes multiple users including the DPS Highway Patrol Division.
