If they are going to the 700 mhz p25 system Opensky is incompatible with p25 therefore LVMPD should invest in p25 radios.

700 mhz Nevada

March 2012 i logged these freqs from Douglas County, listening to them and comparing the data/control ch sound, it is Open Sky im 99% sure on that after playing side by side these and a sample listed as Open-Sky.
Last time i checked the only listing in NV for these freqs is LVMPD, but im hearing them here 45 miles south of Reno,NV, 15 miles south of Carson City,NV.

769.7125 Mhz
770.4125 Mhz
770.9125 Mhz
773.0375 Mhz

I have a wav file recording i just made of these freqs, but no idea how to post it so you can hear it.
I can post on You-Tube then post here, yes involved but thats the only way i know how to do it currently.

Audio Sample on You-Tube:

http://youtu.be/LFxQZk1YuOg

I put this together as fast as i could reason why quality of image, audio is good.

I just searched 769.0000 mhz to 775.0000 mhz and these freqs are still active July 01/2012 and extremely strong, maybe McClellan Pk or Slide Mtn?

700 mhz Open-Why (Sky)

That License doesnt tell much, there was a Ca/Nv Freq chart i had bookmarked that had the locations, freqs and agencies already assigned so there wouldnt be conflict between systems but the site wont load anymore (Changed or No longer?)
I will try and find it or simular info.
LVMPD Lic info (Frequencies) do not match a single Frequency im hearing here.
I first i thought it may have been interop testing or something like that,
I no longer think that is the case.
No more frequencies have been added or removed since i first heard data on 700 mhz.
All (4) are same signal strength, no weak signals found by searching.
That is that????????
Im going to look around online for something new regarding NV 700 mhz, but last time i looked it was all the info that has been there for a few years now.
I will be back if i find something new.

700 Mhz Open-Sky?

Using this site:
http://caprad.org/NlectcRm/Plans/Reg... 1-13-09.pdf
I found the only list that confirms who is using those freqs and where transmissions may be located.
Caprad shows Washoe County list of 700 mhz channels and of all the Channels Statewide,
Washoe Co,State of Nevada list is the only County with all (4) Frequencies im hearing.
Given the signal strength i assume the (4) 700 mhz channels are originating from Slide Mtn.
No where else in Washoe Co is there a Repeater Site that is line of site to my house, signals never picket fence or weaken using rubber duck antenna.

If the Washoe County TRS goes OpenSky, NSRS has to go as well or take over the WC EDACS system.

If the largest police department in the state (LVMPD) and the second largest county (Washoe) are both OpenSky, I can imagine that NHP and other state LEAs will feel the pressure (or give it) to move that way for interoperability. So much for P25.

Even more amusing would be NSRS going P25 and WC going O/S. The new SNACC P25 system would potentially have the kind of interop with NSRS that Washoe County would give up. It's sort of a balance in the force-one system closes off, another opens up.

If everyone goes O/S, I guess that would leave the NSRS EDACS with NV Energy and the various non law enforcement state agencies or they can all spend the money to go O/S. Hooray for Nevada becoming the next Pennsylvania and the Reno/Sparks/WC Metro area becoming the next LV Metro/Milwaukee. SNACC will be the odd one out, especially since their radios will be working and intelligible a lot more often.

I would hope that there wouldn't be this much stupid floating around and that instead NSRS would go P25 along with SNACC and WC so they can all share the costs of build out. If Nye county gets on the SNACC P25 system, even better for them and NSRS. This sort of crazy working together approach could save us all a bunch of money in the long run.

My xts2500 will not. Decode the 700 digital frequencies. So it has to be in encryption or open sky

I just found this tidbit of info regarding Radio Cache on http below.

http://dem.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/demnvgov/content/NCSC/NW_Nevada_RTICP_Ver_2-4_2010_01_26.pdf

Radio Cache(s)
Cache radios, also known as “swapped radios,” refer to maintaining a cache of standby radios that can be deployed to support regional incidents. These radios may be from a regional cache or from a participating agency. These radios allow all responders to use common, compatible equipment during an incident. Specific caches within the Northwest Nevada Region are listed in the following table. Detailed information on cache radios can be found in Appendix F.
Table 6 Northwest Nevada Region Radio Cache(s) Radio Cache Name Make / Model Owning / Managing Agency Frequency Band Quantity
Washoe County Radio Cache
Tyco Electronics 7200 with vehicular charger, lithium chargeable battery, clamshell and lithium AA batteries

Washoe County Emergency Operations Center
800 MHz / 700 MHz
Trunked Conventional P25 Open Sky
43 Radios in Cache
