It's finally official. September 3, the legacy system will cease operation. Only "major media" is being offered a "Desert Sky" radio that is operable on Metro's system.

I've contacted them in an attempt to secure one, but it is likely going to be denied as I don't work for any major media outlet - I'm just a freelancer.

Yes your information is correct I have that bulletin. But that is not the first time they have released that so I guess we will see.

Another year another deadline (-_-) Ill miss listening to Metro if and when they actually make the switch. Truly a shame they didn't go with the SNACC. On another note, am I the only one who has been unable to monitor the NE area channel? I haven't heard it in a while even when I've been in that area, just curious.

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and was surprised how much activity was still on the VHF channels. You could easily tell they were patched to OpenSky though... I heard numerous 'Can you repeat? Your message was garbled' requests and quite often messages would stutter... almost like a record skipping. Overall I thought the audio quality itself sounded really good, but the number of lost or dropped transmissions seemed quite high.
