Digital

Check the specs the PSR-500 won't help you on P25 Phase II at all. Only the PSR-800 and maybe if it ever gets to sales the PSR-900?

P25

Easy to figure it out, somebody up there needs to run PRO96com or unitrunker on the control channel and see what the info says. I assume smokey4176 did that??? Any chance we could see a screen shot?

Thanks 737 mech. I to will be asking Santa for a PSR-800. I looked into the difference between the 500 and 800 and low and behold you were right. And as for knowing if it's P25 and phase 2. From what the FCC website says ULS Application - Public Safety Pool, Conventional - 0005428600 - HUMBOLDT, COUNTY OF - Frequency Summary it says 8K10F1W in the emissions data and on this site Emission Designator - The RadioReference Wiki it says 8K10F1W P25 Phase II subscriber units (Harmonized Continuous Phase Modulation - H-CPM) I would have added thies as hyperlinks but not shure how to do it. And I dont know what PRO96com or unitrunker is to give a web shot

Doesn't surprise me. When I spent three weeks in Winne last January for work, my BCD996XT noted two frequencies running P-25 encrypted, 154.785 NAC:29A, and 153.8 NAC:2A0.

At least the Ambulance is still analog....for now. I wonder if Burning Man helped pay for the p25 upgrade? That's probably the biggest event Humboldt and Pershing Counties participate in.

NO, we did not pay for any P25 upgrade.

I wouldn't waste my time buying any new scanners, I'll be betting they will encrypt at some point since its so cheap to do so.

Lander & Lincoln Counties P25

I notice in the latest FCC license release that both Lander and Lincoln Counties have licenses with the P25 emission codes. Maybe this is a new regional system with Humbolt County? I can understand Lander, but Lincoln looks kind of removed.

If you have to update your license anyway due to narrowbanding, why not add every possible emission you might use that your new radios are capable of?

20 dollar digital scanner p-25 and more...

Im getting a sdr (software defined radio) ebay 25USD... its a usb stick and it can hear anything from 24-1700 mhz... with free programs from the web like dsd (digital sound decoder) you can listen to most un encrypted signals such as p25 1&2 and more.. its done thru a pc and gets updated oftin by the open source community, most similar applications run on windows, mac and Linux.
