Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC) Programming Question

I’m having a problem programming the SNACC site for Lake Las Vegas-Henderson (Site No 011(B))
011 (B) Lake Las Vegas - Henderson Clark 866.27500 866.77500 867.05000 867.80000c 868.95000

My scanner is a UNIDEN BCD996XT. I have never been able to monitor Henderson site. I’ve researched the Radio Reference files, but I never really found the programming answer to my question. I’m looking for someone with experience with this site and also knows how to program this site using a Uniden BCD 996XT scanner. I’m assuming this site is a Custom 800 band plan which the 996XT is capable of handling. I’ve used the Custom Frequency Tables, shown below, to program the bandplan for this site. This has not worked for me. I assumed that this Table was provided because it was the recommended way to program SNACC custom sites. But after using this table, the Base Frequencies, in my opinion, appear to be wrong for a MOT II 800 type trunk system. All Base frequencies appear to start too low. Can some confirm that the Lake Las Vegas-Henderson site is a Custom 800 site. If so, please confirm the correct base frequencies, the spacing, and the offset. If possible when replying, be specific with the correct entry for the configuration of this system that is applicable for a Uniden BCD 996XT scanner.

Custom Frequency Tables

Base Spacing Offset
154.65000 15 481
158.73000 15 716
153.74000 15 637

That table is for the Pahrump vhf sites, I dont use that table in my scanner. As for the Henderson Lake Las Vegas they appear to be wrong (not rebanded) should be 15Mhz lower for rebanded frequencies, that site I have never heard anything on them. The site I use and can hear all over the Las Vegas valley is site 12 North Las Vegas Simulcast site, it works great for me. I use the other sites depending where I am in Clark County.

The site type is MOT Custom/Reband Type II. Are you using Freescan? Mine shows lower 851.025 upper 854.0 step 25 offset 440. I don't load all the sites only the control channels from all the sites then I select "Control Channel only" on. Works great I don't miss much of any activity in town.

SNACC Programming Question

In the example of SNACC site 011 for Lake Las Vegas-Henderson, the control channel is listed as 867.8000c. If I understand correctly, using your setup for a MOT Custom/Reband Type II system, I only have to enter this one frequency (the control channel 867.8000 - see below) into the frequency list and ensure the lower and upper limits are as stated in your reply along with the step 25 and offset of 440. Have I understood your reply correctly?

011 (B) Lake Las Vegas - Henderson Clark 866.27500 866.77500 867.05000 867.80000c 868.95000

Correct as shown in this picture. Make note the control channel only box is checked.

This method saves memory space. I really don't care what site I'm scanning especially in this case a MOT Smart Zone. The Alpha tags tells me who is talking that's good enough for me. If the control channels ever change people make quick note of it on this forum and the scanner seems quiet. I haven't had that happen for a few years now. Looking at this file I need to update and add the Pahrump stuff.

SNACC Programming Question

Thank you 737mech. I will make the adjustments to my scanner and test it out. Hopefully, the Forum Admin will keep this Forum Thread open for a few weeks so I can post my feedback after testing. Thanks again for taking the time to post this information with your detailed screen shots of the scanner setup. This helps tremendously.

SNACC Programming Question - continued

As promised, I did some testing with the changes suggested in the earlier replies in this thread but I've not been able to receive any of the Henderson site. If possible, if someone else can check this site as configured with above settings, let me know if they have any different response.

As a reference, the site is listed below.

011 (B) Lake Las Vegas - Henderson 866.2750 866.7750 867.0500 867.80000c 868.9500

Try subtracting 15 from each frequency for the Lake Las Vegas site. Those 866-868 ones are pre-rebanding.

SNACC Programming - Now Working

The set-up provided by 737mech is absolutely correct - and complete. There was one control channel (853.3375 - Angel Peak (Mt Charleston)) that was not entered in my list. This was due to the fact that I thought it was one control channel I didn't need due to my location in Henderson - my location is between Henderson and Boulder City. Not until I entered the 853.3375 (CC) to my list, did I hear anything from the Henderson area - police, fire, EMS, etc.. Not sure how this control channel is related to the Henderson area, but the system is working fine now. Lesson learned in this example, all SNACC control channels must be entered in the list. I missed the "significance" of this requirement from 737mech's recommendation. Again, I appreciate the help from 737mech.
